About:Beijing Travel

Ni hao!
Im travelling to China (Beijing) for two weeks commencing october the 7th (so excited ah!) Im visiting family there, but they will be working, and I worry I may get bored as I don't speak Chinese. Would you be able to recommend a local guide? perhaps a company that organizes days out or 2 day trips or similar? I want to go to the Great Wall and ideally the Forbidden City... is this possible staying in Beijing? Thank you!!

Also can I buy CNY in the UK to take with me? or do I need to purchase the currency once Im in the country??

HI, I think you could do the travel by yourself. Beijing has very convenient transportation system. Most the of attractions of Beijing are located within the 2nd Ring Road, all destinations along which are connected effectively by subway. When you arrive in Beijing, you could purchase a map both in Chinese and English version. And, all of the streets and signs in this city have names in English. BTW, when you visit the Forbidden City, you could rent an automatic English guide (a kind of small machine) at the entrance, so no guider is needed~ As for the Great Wall, you could participate in a one-day's tour at the Beijing Tourist Disturibution Center in the Tian'anmen Square/
Wish you a nice trip!
