How far is Shanghai to Xi'an - can 2 pax take an overnight train from Shanghai to Xi'an? How much would that be and is the train fairly new? How much would it be to fly from Shanghai to Xi'an? How easy is it to reach the train station from the Pudong Shanghai airport?

The train from Shanghai to Xian takes more than 16 hours and the soft sleeper train ticket is about USD77.00 per person. If you take the flight, it only takes 2 hours and 40 minutes. The economy class airfare of Shanghai/ Xian is USD176.00 per person.

On the train in China, the soft-sleeper carriages are divided into separate compartments and each compartment has two lower and two upper berths. If you do not want to share it with any strangers, you may purchase the whole compartment.

There is Airport Bus No.5 from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Shanghai Railway Station every 20 minutes from 7:20 am to 23:00 pm. Taxi costs about RMB 200 yuan from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Shanghai Railway Station.
