I am to travel to china / chengdu to marry my fiancee , DO I NEED A  Certificate Of Impediment To Marriage .And can this be authenticated or approved at chinese consulate in melbourne .Foreign Affairs melbourne say they do not do such for china but i have feeling they are wrong and that I do need to provide certificate of impediment , can you tell me if it is a requirement please .Thank you .

Yes, the certificate is necessary when applying for the marriage certificate in China.I agree with you that it should be isssued by Foreign Affairs Melboune, if they don't do this for you, you can try the Chinese embassy in Melbourne.
