I plan to visit Zhongshan (Guangdong), Changsha (Henan) and Chengdu (Sichuan). What is the best sequence if by train? How long will the travel time be for each leg? Also how much will the tickets cost? I am coming from Canada so will very likely arrive to Hong Kong first and then depart from Hong Kong on my way home. Thanks.

The shortest route is bus to Guangzhou, then train to Changsha, several to choose from taking 8 to 9 hours then train to Chengdu, there is only one leaving in the morning and it takes 20 hours.
