About:Chinese Consulate in Manchester

I am a lone british traveller currently in Nepal hoping to go to China for about 2 weeks before catching a train down to Vietnam or flying to Bangkok but i do not yet have an onwards ticket for either - will it still be possible to obtain a Chinese visa in Kathmandu? I have a ticket home from Bangkok but this is not until the 19th August and I was hoping to fly into Beijing on the 8th July. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
