About:Mentougou District of Beijing

I am thinking of spending 3 weeks on Hainan soaking up the sun from mid-July. I will be backpacking alone - is there plenty to do? Are their cheap, clean places to stay? Are there many backpackers there? Is there much of a nightlife?
