About:Guangzhou Travel Guide

is guangzhou the most appropriate place to buy merchandise in china or are there cheaper cities ,because i think with the influx of people to the city things are getting expensive

Not really. It also depends on what you want to buy. Guangzhou and Shenzhen have cheap electronic products. Humen in Guangdong has large clothing market. Yiwu in Zhejiang is a famous small commodities market. You can also find clothes, silk and other textile products in Hangzhou.
