About:China Train

A question to those who've been to China: is it possible to get tickets late June-early July (Beijing-Chengdu) in particular just 4-5 days in advance? I know the schedule. In forums, some people say it's not a problem at all but others say they faced long lines to ticket offices. Unfortunately there is no on-line booking service..

How are you, Ms. Freshonton?
I have been to China for study for three years. It will be the beginning of the students' summer vacation from late June to early July. So train tickets are hard to buy. The students have the priority to buy the tickets first. I think it will be long lines at the ticket office. Usually the ticekts can be purchased 10 days in advance. You'd better buy the tickets as early as possible. Good luck to you!

To my experience, OMG, it is really a problem to buy train tickets and taking trains during that period of time! Late June to early july is the summer holiday for the college students. They are eager to go back home or travel around. The most common way they choose will be the train. Beijing to Chengdu is one of the hot lines. To make it easy, you may try to book the tickets 10-20 days from the hotel in Beijing or book the flight directly. Good luck!
