I had a single trip visa last year when i visited china. i wish to visit china again but im currently in hk. by any chance i can just apply visa online? i am a malaysian.

You can not apply for a Chinese visa online. You can go to the office of the Commissioners of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
