We are planning a leisure trip to beijing, however I have a few Questions:Which is a good area to stay in (considering we want to sight see and shop)?Any good 3-4 Star Hotels in that area?Places one can visit on a 3-4 hr train journey frm beijing.?

For shopping and sightseeing, you can stay around Xidan, Wangfujing,Qianmen, Tian'anmen areas. As to a train journey, you can take the inter-city bullet train (half a hour)to Tianjin and bullet train to Qinhuangdao for about 3 hours.Have a nice time.
