Greetings!

I am a Peace Corps Volunteer living in Kazakhstan. I would love to travel to Urumqi this summer. Is it possible to get a visa in Almaty? Do I need a letter of invitation? How many days is the total processing time?

You are supposed to get your visa in Chinese Embassy in Astana. An invitation letter is not reequired for obtaining tourist visa. It takes 4 working days to process your application.
