Do I need a visa for China if I have a valid China travel permit from Hong Kong? I will be entering China from Bangkok (to Guangzhou). Any help very much appreciated!

Yes, it's a Home Return Permit issued in Hong Kong. I have a UK passport. Will I still need a Chinese tourist visa?

Mrs. Lee, as far as I am concerned, the Home Return Permit is only issued to HK residents who have Chinese nationality. How did you get the home return permit with UK passport, I wonder?

Mrs Louise,

The Home Return Permit was legitimately obtained in Hong Kong as I was born there. Are you able to tell me whether it's possible to use to enter China flying in from Bangkok? I've tried the Visa Application Service and they're not able to say either way. Any help you can offer would be gratefully received.

You are required of a visa for entering China. You have two disadvantages: 1. you are of UK nationality2. you don't directly fly to China from HK. Instead, you will fly from Bangkok to China.
