About:China Customs Declaration

I am traveling to China. I wish to take a gift which is a pearl necklace with value of app $1000.00 USD.
Is this permissable? What is the process? Thanks

You can take it into China. However, you will report to the Customs. The process is:
Arrival at the airport - health check - frontier inspection - luggage claim - Customs inspection - Leave the airport
