About:China Museum of Huaiyang Cuisine

I have worked in China as a teacher for 4 years but am now changing jobs and want to start a business with a chinese friend. In all my previous visas I would apply for a tourist visa and then have it changed to a work or teaching visa which allowed for a residence card. It seems that you are not allowed to change from tourist visa to another type of visa anymore. What visa should I apply for?

It is possible to convert a tourist visa to F visa, but it is a little troublesome. You'd better apply for a new visa. Have you already opened a business in China? You can apply for a F visa with submitting a copy of your "business License" and other materials. Do you have property (real estate) in China? If you have, you can apply for a D 9 (residence) visa.

I plan on opening the business (a small restaraunt)once I get there, so i dont have anything to prove my intents until after I am over there and begin applying for business liscenses etc. I currently do not own property either. That is why im a little confused on what would be the best visa to apply for?

Well, Mr Jesse, where are you now? Currently, where are you living now? Are you still in China? If your residence permit still valid, why not stay in China and get your business license approved as soon as possible.Then you can return to your home country to apply for a new "F" or 'Z visa' by presenting your business license in China(indicating that you are self-employed in China). Hopefully, it is helfful for you.
