For travelling, a tourist visa is required for your entry into China. The following documents are needed for your application:
1. passport (must have a minimum validity of 6 months left before expiring)
2. a properly filled application form with photo attached
3. flight tickets and confirmation of hotel reservation

If yours is a single-entry visa, after your entry into China, it will become invalid.

After your entry into China, you can apply for a residence permit at the local public security bureau for your long stay. Then you can get married and apply for a resident visa.
