About:Chinese Embassy in Malaysia

I am currently in Malaysia and wish to travel back to China in the near future Previously to obtain a visa I had to travel back to London as this is my country of residence ( although the application was just prior to the Olimpic Games in Beijing )
Can I now apply to the Embassy in KualaLumpur for my visa without being a resident in Malaysia

During the Olympic period, China imposed a strict visa policy. Now, the visa policy may be a bit lax. The pre-Olympic visa regulation states that you can apply for a visa at a third country. Well, your current visa should remain valid and you probably need to present a residence permit in Malaysia to the Chinese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
