About:History of Silk Road

I am doing a report on the Silk Road, and this page was a huge help. I want to give a big "thank you".
But I have one question; How long was the silk road???

The Silk Road starts from Chang’an (now Xian), passes through Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Pamir Plateau, Mid Asia, and West Asia and ends at the east bank of the Mediterranean. It has a total length of over 7000 kilometers. Its Chinese section is about 4000 kilometers long.
