You mentioned DADUHUI app and scan QR code to enter at turnstile. Is there a QR code at the turnstiles to exit a station?
I noticed there is an option to ride the system using WeChat. Is this different to DADUHUI, or does it feed data to the DADUHUI app, or does it bypass the DADUHUI, and communicates directly with Shanghai Transportation Card Company?

To exit a station, the QR code on the map will be updated and then you scan again on the gate machine to exit. The WeChat option is the mini program which also applies QR code which is linked to your Wechat Pay.
