hi im going to china soon with the 240hr transit visa option I want to know if I can book separate flight tickets( separate PNRs) to ensure I have different ports. please let me know if both these options work
Country A(flight)-Guangzhou- ferry to hkg- flight to A

Your itineraries are definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you can travel from Guangzhou to Hong Kong on separate tickets be ferry, plane and train. In reality, taking a train is by far the most convenient option compared to plane or ferry. Traveling on 240 hour visa free transit (and on 144 hour visa free transit in old times) was always allowed with separate tickets/bookings. The truth is, you will have to buy your plane/ferry/train ticket before you enter China because you will be asked to present your exit ticket (to Hong Kong) at the moment of your check-in in country A and upon your landing in Guangzhou. So, having your exit ticket ahead of your departure toward mainland China is a must. Have a nice visit to China.
