About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Traveling from Philippines

Hello! I’m US citizen planning to travel from San Francisco to Manila, Philippines for 1 week. Then go to Shanghai for 3 days then Beijing for 4 days then back to San Francisco. Am I eligible for the 10-day visa free transit? Coz I am not sure if the qualified countries are due to citizenship and not where I’m flying prior to China. Bec I’m flying from Philippines which is not in the qualified countries

Rica, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. The basic rule of 240 hour visa free transit requires that the immediate points before and after mainland China are located in two different countries or eligible territories (eligible territories are Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau). As you can see your immediate points are really located in two different countries, Philippines and US. This is a detail that makes your itinerary as eligible one. Have a nice visit to China.
