22 hour layover in Shenzhen

I have a UK passport and will have a 22 hour transit (3pm until 1pm the next day). I am flying in from London and the next day flying to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Can I exit the airport and stay in a hotel of my choice if I do the 24 hour visa-free transit visa on arrival?

Yes, you can leave the airport to stay in a hotel after get the 24h temporary entry permit.
