About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit in Guangzhou

Hello
I am flying to Japan on September 25 with China Southern Airlines, and my itinerary includes a 3-hour layover in Guangzhou (6:00 AM – 9:00 AM).
I am a Pakistani passport holder and already have my Japan visa. However, I’ve heard that Pakistani nationals might need a Chinese transit visa, even if they remain inside the airport for a short layover.
👉 Could please confirm whether I will need to apply for a Chinese transit visa for this 3-hour connection, or can I transit visa-free as long as I stay airside?
Any guidance or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Wasim, your itinerary is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. When you land in Guangzhou, you will just walk from one to the other gate and you do not need to perform any formality nor will you fill out any forms. Also, you will not be a subject of immigration or customs inspections. Between the two gates you will just encounter a security check. Pakistani citizens do not need a visa for transit / transfer of this kind through Chinese airports, definitely. Have a nice journey.
