About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit in Beijing

Hello,

I live in Switzerland and I hold a Kosovo passport (I have a residence permit in Switzerland). I want to fly to Tokyo but I have to transit through Beijing (less than 6 hours layover). I am not living the airport. I couldn't find information regarding my nationality (Kosovo). I want to book the following flights:

Geneva --> Beinjing international airport --> Tokyo
Tokyo -- Beinjing international airport --> Tokyo

Do I need some kind of Visa ? China does not recognize Kosovo as a state so I am not sure I would be allowed to transit.

Bekim, the answer is very simple, You are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and regardless of the fact that China does not recognize Kosovo you are allowed to transit through China. By the way, I am more than certain that for your second flight you wanted to write: Tokyo - Beijing - Geneva (instead of Tokyo). Your situation is very simple because you will not leave the airport. So, upon your check-in in Geneva you will declare that you are traveling to Tokyo via Beijing using 24 hour visa free transit. You will present your flight tickets and after a short check you will be allowed to board the Beijing bound plane. Upon your landing in Beijing you will just walk from one to the other gate. You do not need to perform any formality nor you will fill out any forms. Also, you will not be a subject of immigration and customs inspections. You will just encounter a security check between the two gates (metal detector and the stuff). You will spend your layover time in the transit zone (airside) of Beijing airport. The same things are valid (they are the same) for your travel back from Tokyo to Geneva. Have a nice journey.
