USA - HK - Zhongshan - Macau - HK

Hi. Does this route work under the 240 free hours visa rule? We will stay in HK then travel by ferry to Nansha Port. We plan to visit Zhongshan. From Zhongshan we will stop through Macau for the day. Do I need to stay over night in Macau to count as the 3rd province stop? Which ferry tickets do I purchase before leaving HK to show proof I'm headed to Macau (3rd stop) and then HK? Thank you!

Yes. You don't have to stay overnight in Macau as long as you will exit Mainland China within the 240h stay. You need to purchase the ticket to leave for Macau from Zhongshan before you get on the ferry to Nansha Port.
