About:China Visa on Arrival

Voa for child

My son born abroad and holds foreign passport. We want to visit shenzhen and use voa. However, I will enter with return home permit as I am considered Chinese national by birth and continues to hold the dual citizenship. Would they ask for child's parents nationality? If I provide foreign nationality, would I not be able to use home permit card as I considered foreigner. But if I share I am Chinese nationality (no passport, just hkid), my kid may be assumed to be Chinese national as I was at his birth even though abroad, and would his voa be denied?

It is true that your son could be considered to be a Chinese Citizen, but I am more than certain that the mainland Chinese border officials will accept his foreign documents (passport) and grant him a Shenzhen VOA. Maybe even better solution would be to use 240 hour visa free transit by inserting Macau in the itinerary. HK - Macau - Shekou in Shenzhen by ferry - HK by train. Just one detail, a train ticket has to be bought even before you start the journey. Think and decide ..
