Medical exam for X1 visa if applied from Canada

The Chinese schools are telling us that a student has to undergo a medical examination if applying for X1 student visa but if I look at thye China Consulate website, there is no mention of a medical exam. Can you please confirm whether it is required or not and where one can take it in Canada?

I didn't find that the medical exam is needed for X1 visa application, but I know it is always required by the school you will attend. You need to confirm specific requirements in terms of the hospital level, inspection items and more with the school.
