About:China Student Visa

Conversion of a tourist (L) visa to a student visa ( X1)

Some Chinese schools ask students to enter on a tourist visa and then they will assist converting it into a X1 visa. is it a legitimate process?

It's possible but normal cases are converting L, X or M visas to work Z visas but from L to X1, examples are less. You may consult the local exit and entry administration.
