Timeline

Hi, I am planning on visiting China for 2 weeks in the middle of my backpacking trip end of October start of may (I am UK citizen). I plan to exit to Hong Kong as have not decided where to go next.
1) What is the timeline for getting a visa?
2) After online application how long until you are invited to bring your passport to the centre?
3) If I only have 4 days to do that, is it certain that I will be able to give the passport on the Monday morning and get it back by Thursday (As I plan to fly on the Friday!)?
4) Is there a time limit on how long after the online application is accepted and bringing my passport to the centre?
5)How long is the visa valid for after picking up my passport from the centre?
Thanks for all the help
Chris

Hi, Chris,
1) You can usually get your visa on the 3th working day you submit your passport. But before that you need to submit application online. It's a little difficult to estimate how long it will take in total.
2) There is no exact processing time, and it varies from visa centers.
3) It’s uncertain, but generally you can. For peace of mind, you can apply for express or urgent service so as to get your visa on the second or first day you submit your passport.
4) It will be explained in the email.
5) The validity of a Chinese visa is usually 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and sometimes 10 years. A single-entry visa is usually 3 months.
You are advised to process early, Chris, just in case.
