Your itinerary and your transit will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Upon your landing in Shanghai you have two options. In other words, if you do not intend to exit the airport, you will just walk from one to the other gate and you do not need to perform any formality nor to fill out any form. Also, you will not be a subject of immigration and customs inspections. However if you want to exit the airport in that case the first thing that you will do upon landing in Shanghai will be to approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight itinerary and your hotel booking accommodation if you plan to have a hotel stay. This application is free of any charge. In any case, it is important to understand the fact that the issuing of the temporary entry permit is not a passenger's right, but a bonus that is offered based on discretionary decision to those with long layovers, disabled passengers and those with small children. In any case, you should try and hopefully it will be resolved in your favor, although you can expect both outcomes. In the case of the negative outcome, you will just wait for your next flight in the transit zone of Shanghai airport. I wish you a success and a pleasant journey.
