From HKIA to Guangzhou by ferry

Hi, I understand that we do not need to collect luggage at HKIA if we go to Guangzhou via ferry. The luggage will be sent to Guangzhou ferry terminal to be collected by us with the luggage tag. So that means we need to inform HK immigration that we are going Guangzhou via ferry? How do we inform? If not, how would HKIA know to forward our luggage to Guangzhou ferry terminal?

You don’t need to inform. When you land in HK Airport, you can buy ferry tickets and present the baggage tag receipt at Transfer Area E2. At that time, the airport will know that you are going to Guangzhou by ferry directly without entering HK, and will help to transfer your luggage to the port. Then, you can board the People Mover to SkyPier Terminal to take the ferry without immigration and customs checks.
