Best way to commute within the 4 cities

I plan to fly from Singapore and visit Kunming, Lijiang, Chengdu and Xi An. What is the best way to commute between the cities ? Is it better to fly into Kunming first and go upwards, or fly into Xi An and travel downwards? Is the period of mid Oct a good time to travel?

Anne, October in autumn seems to be a good time to travel to those cities, and both traveling downwards and upwards are OK. For example, starting from Xi’an, you can take high speed trains to Chengdu, and then continue your train travel to Kunming, as the three capital cities are connected by many bullet trains, which are convenient and cost-effective. To visit Lijiang, it is better to enter from Kunming, as the two are in the same province and are linked by trains.
