About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

London - Hong Kong - ferry to Nansha - Foshan - Guangzhou - London

The flight Guangzhou - London is with Emirates transiting in Dubai (UAE, a permitted country).
Is this OK? (You have mentioned that mainland China to third country must be a *direct* flight, but these are more expensive.)

Miles, I have intentionally written that your flight has to be a direct one to UK because you have written that you will fly from Guangzhou to UK. Also, in this way I wanted to stress the fact that you are not allowed to return to Hong Kong after your mainland China visit since you will enter mainland China from Hong Kong. Now, when I know that you will fly to UAE directly from mainland China (Guangzhou in your case), I will just confirm that your itinerary is eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. In reality, it is important to understand that the essence of this rule is that the immediate points before and after mainland China have to be in two different countries or eligible territories (eligible territories are Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau). Your itinerary Hong Kong - mainland China - UAE is all that matters in this regard. Have a nice visit to China.

Crystal clear! Many thanks Borut. Our trip is shaping up nicely.
One little problem: I can’t book the ferry to Nancha from HK. The https://hongkongferrybooking.com/ site is clear, but won’t accept payment with a UK Mastercard or Revolut card. I emailed them; they replied….

“As you enter the email. Hongkong Ferry Booking To identify the information that you can. Request to info@worldferrybooking.com or Tel: +669 3617 6989 Thank you for contact and pay attention to the instructions. Comments to us And to let you know that I received your message successfully.”

The line from Hong Kong to Nansha is operated by Hong Kong based Chu Kong Passenger Transport company ( https://www.cksp.com.hk/#/main/home ). You should try to book your ticket through their website that I have provided (you will have to paste and copy it into your address bar). If you do not succeed, this is not a problem because you will buy your ferry ticket right at the ferry terminal in Hong Kong in person. The line for Nasha departs from China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui neighborhood in Kowloon.
