About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

240hr visa from US

My trip is from US to Beijing (entry point) then 9days in China and leaving out of Shanghai (exit point) to third country Malaysia then back to US.

Have not bought airline tickets but my options all include transit stops 1-2 hrs in Seoul or Taiwan - not layover just transit. Will this be OK for 240hr visa requirement?

John, you should use correct terminology because this is not a visa, but 240 hour visa free transit, so there is no visa at all. Your itinerary is eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you can proceed with your travel plans. Also, it is important to understand that only the immediate points, before and after your mainland China visit matter regardless of their nature. In other words, your immediate point(s) before mainland China will be Seoul or Taipei and your immediate point after mainland China will be in Malaysia. If you do exactly like this, you are perfectly fine and you do not need any kind of visa. Have a nice visit to China.
