About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travel from London>Shanghai>Varies cities in Japan >Shanghai > London

Hi! We (as British Citizen) are planning to fly directly from London to Shanghai for a couple of days before flying out to Tokyo and varies cities in Japan, before flying back to Shanghai, rest for a day or two before flying to London. Will this qualify under the free transit? Thank you so much!
