About:China Visa-free Policy

my question: Hong Kong-Guangdong-Zhangjiajie-Hong Kong. Reply was it qualify for 240-hour visa free

However, there are examples in other sites stating the following does not qualify.
UK - Hong Kong - Beijing - Shanghai - Hong Kong - UK
By taking out UK , it leaves : Hong Kong - Beijing - Shanghai - Hong Kong which is similar to
Hong Kong - Guangdong - Zhangjiajie - Hong Kong
I don't fully understand the requirements on how to structure a qualify itinerary.
Can you please explain ?

Under 240h visa free transit, the previous stop before Mainland China shouldn't be the next stop after your visit of Mainland China, that is, the route should be A - Mainland China - B. In this case, HK - Mainland China (Guangdong and Zhangjiajie) - HK, A and B are the same HK, so it's a round trip not a transit.

You can make it HK - China mainland - Macao - HK to be eligible.
