Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

Hi,
I found my country (Czech Republic) on the list of countries applicable for Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access. But I read in the comments that its only applicable when arriving to Hainan from countries outside China, where is this written? I will be travelling to Hainan with change of flights on Chengdu airport (and I dont plan to leave the airport). Do I need to apply then for classical Chinese visa or I can use the visa free access?

Thank you
Boba

Yes, to use the Hainan 30-day access, you need to fly directly to Hainan from a foreign country according to the official. If you have a transit in Chengdu, then you need a normal China visa.

Boba, unfortunately, you will have to obtain a Chinese visa in advance. You cannot have a stop in the rest of mainland China immediately before Hainan because the immigration and the customs controls are always done at the very first point of entry in China. So, when you land in Chengdu, you simply have to leave the airside (transit area) because your flight from Chengdu to Hainan is a domestic one. Since you are the citizen of Czechia, you cannot enjoy visa free status in China and consequently you will have to obtain a Chinese visa in advance. I'm sorry, but I wish you a nice stay in Hainan regardless of this detail.
