About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24-Hour TWOV for Philippine passport

Hi, I am a Philippines passport holder with UAE residence visa. I have 7 hours layover in Guangzhou and wanted to explore the city. My ticket is DXB-MNL-DXB via China Southern Airline, stopover in Guangzhou. Will I be eligible on a 24-Hour TWOV?

Riza, you can travel via Guangzhou covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa.

As far as your intention to exit the airport and to shortly explore the city, I will immediately tell you that you should not attempt to do that because the airport officials will not grant you a temporary entry permit because they consider 7 hours of layover to be too short. Typical minimum time at layover where they grant the permits is 8 - 9 hours. In other words, you will be definitely refused.

Having this in mind, you will just walk from one to the other gate and you will not be a subject of immigration and customs checks and you do not need to perform any formality nor fill out any form. You will just spend your time in the transit zone.
