About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

UK Businessman visiting Beijing and transiting Shanghai en route

I’m a UK passport holder travelling on business trip, from UK-Korea-Beijing-UK. On departure from Beijing my flight will be via Shanghai to UK (same day transit within 3 hrs). What kind of visa will I need?

If the duration from your scheduled arrival in Beijing to scheduled departure from Shanghai is less than 24 hours, you don't need any visa because you will be covered by 24-hour visa-free transit. Otherwise, you need to apply for a transit visa in advance.

Hi Lori thank you. I have a meeting in Beijing. Can I leave the airport on a 24-hour visa-free transit (Korea-China-UK)

Yes, you can leave the airport after getting a 24hrs visa free entry permit at the immigration counter.
