About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi we are travelling to Shanghai from the UK. staying two days then onto Australia, we then return to Shanghai.
For 3 nights, will the 144 day cover us?

Please, just do not be confused, it is not 72 hour that is relevant to Shanghai area, but it is 144 hour visa free transit that is applicable to those in longer transit.
