30-day visa-exemption and one-year multiple entry visa

I am a Singapore citizen and I can now stay in China for up to 30 days without a visa for tourism, business, or family visits. Do I need to show a return ticket or any other documents to use this 30-Day Visa-Exemption Arrangement to enter China? After staying in China for no more than 30 days, can I leave for Hong Kong or Macau for a day and then enter China again for another stay for no more than 30 days? Can I do this repeatedly for a year? Will there be any possibility of being stopped at the custom after a few times? Or is it better to apply for a one-year multiple entries visa? How long can i stay in China for each entry?

From other tourists' shares, it will be more reliable to show the return ticket better with hotel reservation. If you don't plan to book the flight, just tell the immigration that you are not sure about the return dates. And some ports may ask you to sign a statement of not overstaying.
You can leave for HK or Macau and then reenter for another 30 days. There is no limit on how many times you enter during a year at present. I think you don't need to apply for a visa with multiple entries. Normally the duration of one-year multiple entries visa is 30 days for each entry.
