About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit visa required for 6 hours of layover?

I am Indian passport holder and I live in Germany. I am travelling from Germany to Vietnam. I have a layover of 6 hours at Guangzhou Airport. Do I need transit visa? I understand that 24 hours visa-free entry is allowed and I need an entry permit. Can entry permit be obtained at the Guangzhou Airport?

Your itinerary will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Since your layover is 6 hours long, you will remain in the transit area (airside) for that amount of time and you will essentially just walk from one to the other gate and you will not be a subject of immigration and customs control/inspection. You will just cross one security check on your path between the two gates. You do not have to bother with permits or any other formality nor you will fill out any forms.

If you were thinking about exiting the airport, I will immediately tell you that you will not be allowed to do that since your layover time is relatively short. Only layovers long 8 or more hours qualify to be considered for this option. Have a nice journey.
