About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 Hour Transit Visa

We bought ticket on November to Osaka with 19 hour transit in Xiamen, my family hold Australia Passport but my parents hold Indonesia Passport, as I heard Australian Passport don't need any visa to exit airport to stay overnight and sightseeing Xiamen, but Indonesian Passport need to apply temporary entry permitt to the Border whether to granted or not, I just worried if not granted I can not leave them in the airport for 19 hour, and without rest in the hotel they will be sick waiting next flight to Osaka, any visa we can apply before so we are sure they can left airport for overnight stay
They are 75 and 70 years old with Indonesia Passport and Australia Bridging Visa

Rita, passengers in transit through China and traveling on 24 hour visa free transit as is in your case all require a temporary entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport. The only passengers that are exempt are those from countries whose citizens do not require a visa to enter China at all. In other words, you will all have to apply for a temporary entry permit immediately upon your landing in Xiamen airport at 24/144 hour visa free transit counter.

This application is free of any charge and, although it may be withhold in theory, in your case it will be granted to all of you at the highest possible probability because your group has very long layover and your parents are in the age where a permit is issued practically automatically. When you approach the transit counter you will just present your flight tickets and your accommodation booking confirmation, so have them ready for presentation. After a short check, you will be granted a permit and will head toward immigration to exit the airport and to have some sightseeing as well as a good night rest. One more detail... Before your landing in Xiamen on board of the plane arrival/departure cards will be dispensed, so take them and fill them out because you will be exiting the airport.
