Transportation and Payment

We will be in Urumqi and Turpan in June 2024.

1) Can we make payment by cash instead of using Alipay/WeChat?

2) How do we engage English speaking driver for our trip to Tianshan Mountain / Tianchi Lake and Namshan pasture.

3) Is there restriction on hotel stay for foreigners in Urumqi and Turpan?

1. Yes. Cash refusal is illegal in China.
2. It's not easy to find an English-speaking driver in China. You may need an English-speaking guide. You can ask the hotel staff for help and maybe they know some English tour guides. You can also turn to TravelChinaGuide for assistance, who will be glad to arrange both English-speaking tour guide and a clean car with an experienced driver for you.
3. No special restrictions. But not all hotels are allowed to serve foreign guests. You need to book with those qualified.
