About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

I have a multiple entry Q2 visa which runs out in march 2025

I have visited China for 30 days in March 2023 have returned again Jan 1 2024 and intend to stay 180 day duration. My question is can I exit mainland China for 1 day then return to stay again with my family until the visa is expired but in the meantime I then would apply for a 1 year residency before the expiry date,is this allowed.

If your visa is multiple-entry visa, you can enter China for several times and your each stay should not be over the duration on the visa. You'd better confirm with the local entry and exit administration bureau if Q2 visa is valid to apply for the residence permit because different cities have different rules.
