About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit Visa

I will have a flight from Indonesia to Korea and am planning to transit either in Guangzhou, Fuzhou, or Xiamen for less than 24 hours. Is it possible for me to explore outside the airport? Also, do you have any recommendations for which city I should have a layover in between those three?

Hendri, it is hard for me to suggest you which airport to take and I would say that your choice should be either Guangzhou or Xiamen based on the price of the ticket.

It is possible to explore the city, but under the condition that your layover is a longer one. Please, just do not make it longer than 24 hours because you will cross the rule of 24 hour visa free transit scheme. So, if you have a longer layover, you will apply for a temporary entry permit immediately upon your landing in Guangzhou or Xiamen at the transit counter. This application is for free. Here you will present your flight tickets and a hotel booking confirmation if you have one, preferably as printouts. Now, if your layover is longer than let's say 9 hours or so, you will be granted a temporary entry permit, but you have to know that the issuing of the permit is always based in the end by discretionary decision of the airport official on the day of travel.
