About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

flight change

Hello,

I want to travel from the USA to Shanghai. Can I get a 144hr visa if I have the connecting flight in Seoul ( 3h 40m layover in Seoul ) and will go back to Seoul from Shanghai

No, unfortunately, your journey is not eligible for any visa free transit scheme... Since the rules are quite clear and the focal point says that "the immediate points before and after your Chinese destination have to be in two different countries or eligible territories", you are aware that Seoul is from both sides of your immediate points and thus making your itinerary non eligible.

You will have to obtain a Chinese visa in advance or to adjust your itinerary to have really two immediate points in two different countries or eligible territories.
