About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 Hour Visa-Free Transit for Cruise via Shanghai Cruise Port

I'm planning a cruise from Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in Shanghai to Japan and back, with flights involved from Australia.

Australia - PVG - Cruise to Japan (departing international cruise terminal) and return.

Can anyone confirm if I am eligible for the Visa-Free Transit for this itinerary? I believe I am but worth checking.

If your complete itinerary is:

Australia - Shanghai - Japan (several ports) - Shanghai - Australia

And you do not have any additional port call in mainland China immediately after and before Shanghai and you have mentioned your all stops (countries), you are definitely eligible for visa free transit scheme and you do not need any kind of visa.

You did not mention the time you will spend in Shanghai between your flight and the cruise and during your return between your cruise and your flight, so just for your information, if that time is shorter than 24 hours, you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and if that time is longer than 24 hours, you will enjoy 144 hour visa free transit. In any case, you do not need any kind of visa because your itinerary is eligible for visa free transit in wider Shanghai area.
