About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

TWOV possible

We are teaking a cruise from Hongkong to Tokyo in February 2024.
We have a stopover for 48 hours in Shanghai, next stop will be Japan.
Are we eligible for a TWOV for 144 Hours for Shanghai?

Assuming that you will arrive in Shanghai by a nonstop flight from Europe and after your 48 hours stay in Shanghai proceed to Japan by cruise, I cannot say anything else, but to conclude that you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in wider Shanghai area and you do not need any kind of visa.

Jan, just to inform you that from December 1 China has abolished visas for Netherlands citizens along with citizens of Germany, Italy, France, Spain and Malaysia. In other words, you can enter and exit China in the same way as you travel to United Kingdom.
