About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Starting my trip in Taipei

Hi
I would like to start my trip in Taipei and go first to Guangzhou and then from there proceed either to Singapore or Vietnam. Is this a legal route for the 144-hours China visa?
Also does is matter what my nationality is? Or only my point of departure / destination?

Thanks for your help!

Only 54 nationalities are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit and yours is not among them. You are allowed to use only 24 hour visa free transit or in other words, you have to accomplish your transit in mainland China within 24 hours. Having Taiwan as your starting point is fine because Chinese territories of Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau act as third regions for visa free transit purposes.

Thank you!
I was looking for info online about the 24 hours transit but couldn’t find. Went as far is calling the immigration in Guangzhou (the number is wrong) but still unsure. Without any paperwork in advance, you are saying i could leave the airport to spend the night out and return before the end of 24 hours from my landing?
Upon landing, should I go to the same counter of the 72-hours in Baiyun airport?

Sorry just want to make sure…

You can see the 24/144 hour visa-free transit counter at the airport and you can get a temporary entry permit there.
