About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Visiting various cities while on a Stopover in Guangzhou

Is a (Australia - Guangzhou - Hong Kong & Macau - Guangzhou - Korea) possible journey for a Korean nationality? I think I am eligible for 144 hour stay in Guangzhou. The flight ticket is originally Australia - Guangzhou - Korea but I would like to visit various cities during my stopover in Guangzhou.
Many thanks.

No, this is not possible. You can just do the following:

Australia - Guangzhou - Korea

If you want to make side trips to Hong Kong and Macau, this complicates things a lot. For example, you can do the following:

Australia - Guangzhou - Hong Kong

This is fine, but you should be aware that you will have to stay in Guangzhou at least a minute longer than 24 hours to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. Also, you have to book a ferry ticket (trains are not eligible) in advance and to print it out and have at hand for your Guangzhou to Hong Kong segment. You can then explore Hong Kong and also travel to Macau. However, when returning to Guangzhou, you will have to fly from Hong Kong to Guangzhou because this is the only eligible way how to enter Guangdong province on visa free scheme and after that proceed to Korea by taking a flight Guangzhou to Korea.

As you can see, this is quite complicated, but doable if you want.
